Caloundra City School is a private, co-educational, non-denominational school on the Sunshine Coast of Australia.

The 8bits team created this website with two different types of web visitor in mind, the school community (including parents, students and staff) and the wider community.

The web site incorporates video, galleries, an online social network for school families, an events calendar, a weather check alert, news categories and more.

The information architecure was informed by card sorting activities udertaken by school parents, resulting in a site that is much easier to use than the previous website, built 4 years earlier. As the school is experiencing rapid growth the structure is designed to accomodate large amounts of information, being added via the content management system, by school staff.

The visual design was developed in conjunction with the school's Early Leaning Centre - Pelican's Nest - another 8bits Media web project.

Features:

8bits CMS was incorporated into the site to enable school staff to maintain editorial control over the site without the need for outsourcing or specialist staff in-house.

This website was built using XHTML and CSS to ensure maximum cross-browser compatibility and longevity.

A dynamic photo gallery displays random images on site pages from the abundant school photo gallery.
