Design Coding Rap

At 8bits Media we often spend a lot of time explaining why clean code, built to international standards is so important.

The business results gained, from a search engine and accessibility standpoint, are so important. But I must admit it can be rather dull. I am sure some of our designers (and clients) might choose to watch paint dry rather than listen to another coding lecture from our resident evangelist, Nick.

Fortunately, I have found this YouTube video - Design Coding Rap. Delivering the same information, but in a rather more contemporary manner by the Poetic Prophet, aka The SEO Rapper...

Social Media and Your Business

Are you aware of the impact Social Media is having on your business? Do you understand the opportunities Social Networking can offer your bottom line? Do you even know what Social Media is???

It’s not surprising if you don’t. A CEO’s teenage children are more likely to understand Social Media than he/she does. Our kids are using sites like YouTube, FaceBook and Flickr to connect with each other and share their experiences and opinions.

You too can utilise this social development. It can benefit your business by increasing networks, building brand awareness and even monitoring what people are saying about your products.

As Nathan Gilliatt, from The Net-Savvy Executive says, "You need to find out where people are talking about you and pay attention." This is illustrated clearly in Nathan’s blog covering Hasbro’s 2006 Toy Recall.

This phenomenon is growing rapidly and you can bet your overdraft that if your competitors don’t already have a Social Media relations strategy, they will soon.

If you would like to know more about Social Media contact 8bits.

RSS in Plain English

If you want to stay in regular contact with your customers, one of the best ways is to use RSS (Really Simple Syndication). RSS makes it possible for your customers, suppliers and other interested parties to pull a web feed from the news section of your site whenever you make an update.

So, when something new & exciting happens in your company - put it on your website news or blog sections. Then, rather than just relying on the traditional methods of spreading the word, you know that everyone that subscribes to your RSS feed will have received the message immediately, via their news reader.

Have a look at this short video explaining RSS by the CommonCraft team. Then contact the 8bits Media team to find out how easy it is to integrate RSS into your web strategy.
