Domain Name Registration
A domain name is the identity of your website, and is how people find you on the web. With this in mind, it is important to get this right.
Ideally, a domain name should reflect the content of the website it belongs to. If you already have a company or trading name, then this would be your first choice.
You may need to re-think this if someone else has already registered the domain name that you want. If their business competes with your's and they have registered the .com, you may not want to use the same domain with a different suffix, as your visitors may end up at the competitors website!
It may be a better option to look at a different domain to try and ease any confusion that may occur.
Bear in mind that a domain name is the first thing that a visitor or search engine sees, so it is best to try and keep it as relevent as possible. This means that it should be reinforced within the content on the site, and even pertain to a product or service you may have.
How to Check if a Domain Name is Available
Just typing a desired domain name into a browser won't tell you if it is available or not. Because there may not be a website associated with the name, doesn't mean it hasn't already been registered. To make certain it is available, a domain name checker should be used.
If you are interested in checking the availability of a domain name, you can do so by using our domain name checker. You can even register the domain name at the same time if you find the one you want.
If you have any questions, or problems using the domain name checker, please let us know.
